Called to Serve!

Got my mission call!!! 🙂

Dear Sister Mayle,

You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You are assigned to labor in the New Hampshire Manchester Mission.

You should report to the Provo Missionary Training Center on Wednesday, June 5, 2013. You will prepare to preach the gospel in the English language.

When I first turned in my papers, I couldn’t wait to receive my call and as the day got closer and closer, I got more and more excited. When the day finally came, I picked up my call and suddenly, I didn’t want to open it. I was nervous that I would be so disappointed. Lo and behold, I opened it alone in my room, and was disappointed to see I hadn’t been called somewhere foreign. But I said a quick prayer to know that this was where the Lord wanted me to go. It was confirmed to me within a few minutes that yes, New Hampshire was where I needed to be. As I told the news to everyone, I became more excited, happy, and pleased to have been called by the servants of God to be a missionary, an official representative of His church. 

I’ve begun a new and amazing chapter of my life but it started a few months ago. It began the day I knew I wanted to serve a mission and the day that dream became real – October 6, 2012 when President Monson announced that the missionary age had changed. I knew that this announcement had been made because Heavenly Father needs His work to be done. This is the time for us to hurry the work and build His kingdom. 

I know that I have been called of God to bring people to His Gospel. I know that the Gospel is true and that this church is the Lord’s church. He has testified to me many times of the truth of it and I can’t imagine not sharing it with the people I’m around in my life. I can’t wait to serve the people of New Hampshire and show them that I know God loves me and cares about me and wants the best for me and for all His children. 

136 days from now, I will officially be a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and I eagerly wait for that day to come!
